Job Description
Duties include, but are not limited to;
providing administrative, litigation and research support to attorneys such as researching/drafting legal documents; preparing responses to court staff;
filing legal documents and exhibits;
serving as communication liaison between the Legal Unit and respondents, attorneys, courts and clients;
preparing cases for hearings by organizing files, attending/assisting attorney with hearings & complex exhibit assembly as may be necessary.
Multi-tasking while meeting deadlines and maintaining consistently strong attention to detail is critical.
Providing clear, timely and concise responses to inquiries from internal staff and members of the public and court staff is critical.
Position must perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
A paralegal certificate or paralegal studies degree and 3 years of paralegal experience, OR an associate s or bachelor s degree and 3 years of paralegal experience, OR 5 years of paralegal experience; AND the demonstrated ability to draft correspondence and legal documents. Advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills.
Applicants may be asked to provide copies of transcripts. Applicants will be required to complete a drafting assignment using Microsoft Word and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications: Management of hearing calendar for multiple case types for multiple attorneys.
Interacting with public and court staff with exceptional customer service.
Maintaining tickler system and tracking of case life cycle.
Experience in a government environment.
Strong organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills.
Fluent computer skills that can be applied to multiple applications.
