Job Summary

The job duties of the Accountant include but are not limited to providing financial analysis, reporting auditing, and budgeting functions and is responsible for the development and management of contracts and under general direction of the Finance Director, and under direct supervision of the Fiscal Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conducts fiscal analysis and interpretation of financial transactions involving general funds, grants, contracts, and specialized accounts. Provides professional support to maintain the accounting, auditing and financial reporting needs of the department
  • Creates, prepares, posts, and maintains financial, client, or other information into various County financial software and related reporting systems
  • Performs fiscal data entry, various reconciliations, and prepares State and internal reports to meet both external and internal fiscal reporting requirements
  • Supports, monitors, and maintains the department' s accounts receivable and insurance billing systems as well as related consumer information reporting systems in support of all of the divisions within the department
  • Candidate will perform other duties as needed


Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities:

  • 10 years with various accounting experience ( AP, AR, Payroll, GL, ETC.)
  • 4 years experience of General Ledger
  • 4 years experience building journal entries
  • Experience supervising and managing accounting processes and people
  • Experience researching issues and cleaning up historical errors
  • Advanced Excel skills

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in accounting, business, finance or closely related field
  • Ten (10) years accounting related work experience required. Recent work experience in human services, government or non-profit setting preferred
  • Must be proficient in Word and Excel programs
